Farming Sensory Play with Oats
Spring is coming! Let’s learn about farming and how plants grow.
Sensory trays are good fun and great learning tools for little ones. They are easy to make and can be assembled in a few minutes with materials found around your home (please use objects that are age appropriate for your child). Most importantly, they help children learn important sensory attributes (hot, cold, sticky, dry, etc) and are excellent for managing emotions, especially for calming an anxious or frustrated child.
Today, we are going to show you how to create your own sensory farming experience!
What you need:
A bin or a tray
Sensory play base (Oats)
Tips for parents:
Sensory play is all about exploration, let your child make a mess if they wish since this is how they learn about our world. When using a sensory tray or bin, observe your child's actions and ask open ended questions such as "what will happen if..." and "what does this make you think of?". These conversations are important to support language development, cognitive growth and problem solving skills!
** Safety First: Remember to always use objects that are age appropriate for your child! **
